The BSO in the 15 International Festival of Music in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The Bratislava Symphony Orchestra made two concerts in July in the Festival of Music, Dance and Theatre in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias (Spain). The first concert on 22.7.2011 will be about Film Music and the second on 23.7.2011 a Zarzuela Gala with the soprano Ana Carolina Diz and the tenor Francisco Corujo.

David Hernando Rico, music director and recording producer

David Hernando Rico began his piano studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Valladolid, Spain. Later he studied also Musicology at the University of Valladolid. He continued his musical studies on Orchestra Conducting at the University of Music in Bratislava cDavid_Hernando_3ity (Slovak Republic), under the guidance of the most renowned conductors. Upon finishing his studies he was invited by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra to conduct his graduation concert. He completed his studies with the highest possible qualifications.
He has conducted some of the most important orchestras in Slovakia including the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Košice Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Chamber Opera Orchestra, Capella Istropolitana, and the Slovak Sinfonietta.
David Hernando Rico has never stopped studying, taking various courses such as Internationale Bachakademie in Santiago de Compostela, with the renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling, etc. Currently, he is finishing his study on PhD in Music Theory at the University of Music in Bratislava with the highest Spanish Scholarship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From the year 2000 is the musical director of the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. He had produced more than 300 all types music recordings from classical music to film music, and worked with many prestigious composers, recording technicians or companies as: Warner Music, Sony Music and many others in different countries as: USA, Spain, UK, Norway, Germany, and France.
He is often guest conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica Del Principado de Asturias (Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias), Orquesta Sinfónica Ciudad de León (Leon Symphony Orchestra), Real Filarmónia de Galicia (Galicia Real Philharmonic), Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura (Extremadura Symphonic Orchestra), and the Real Philarmonia of Galicia (with this orchestra he made the premiere of the Spanish film “O Apostol”, music composed by Philip Glass. The “O Apostol” premiere was made with live symphony orchestra and a choir; it is the first time in Spain when the premiere of a film is made with live music).
He conducts opera titles like: L’elisir d’amore (G. Donizetti), Don Giovanni (W. A. Mozart), Prodana Nevesta (B. Smetana), Le nozze di Figaro (W. A. Mozart), I Puritani (V. Bellini).
Actually he is also guest conductor of the Slovak National Opera in Bratislava.
